ATHENAZEIn ancient Greece, visits to Athens were so common that the Greeks had a word for it: Athenaze, or “Athensbound.”On March 20th, 2004, the Department of Classics held its first annual Athenaze. Every year this reunion and open house event -- which is free and open to the public -- attracts alumni, current UGA students, high school Latin teachers and their students from Georgia and neighboring states, and local Athenians to our Department to learn more about us and our programs. Athenaze gives participants the opportunity to meet the people behind our flourishing undergraduate and graduate programs and to see what all the excitement for UGA Classics is about.
