The lab is also equipped with a PowerMac 6500/250 and an Ibycus machine used for searching Greek and Latin texts. The Gateways run Windows 98, and the PowerMac has System 7.5.5 loaded. All have CD-ROM and ZIP drives. There is also a scanner available for student use.

The Gateway computers are connected to the campus network with access to Arches, OASIS, and GALIN and are loaded with Internet Explorer 5 for Web browsing. They can be used to search the TLG and PHI CD-ROMs of Classical authors, to access the Database of Classical Bibliography and various photo albums of classical material prepared by faculty members and to log-on to the departmental Web pages for individual courses. All computers are equipped with WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, and GreekKeys and are connected to printers. Lab users must supply their own paper. The Lab is open M-F from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Keys are available to graduate students for after-hours use.

Classics Commons

The Classics Commons, Park Hall 215, is a quiet lounge reserved for the use of Classics faculty, students, and staff. Equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee pot, the Commons is a convenient gathering place for members of the department.

The Commons is open M-F from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Keys are available to faculty, staff and graduate students for after-hours use.
