Undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Classics may use the following facilities. Alexander Room

The lab is also equipped with a PowerMac 6500/250 and an Ibycus machine used for searching Greek and Latin texts. The Gateways run Windows 98, and the PowerMac has System 7.5.5 loaded. All have CD-ROM and ZIP drives. There is also a scanner available for student use. The Gateway computers are connected to the campus network with access to Arches, OASIS, and GALIN and are loaded with Internet Explorer 5 for Web browsing. They can be used to search the TLG and PHI CD-ROMs of Classical authors, to access the Database of Classical Bibliography and various photo albums of classical material prepared by faculty members and to log-on to the departmental Web pages for individual courses. All computers are equipped with WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, and GreekKeys and are connected to printers. Lab users must supply their own paper. The Lab is open M-F from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Keys are available to graduate students for after-hours use. Classics Commons
The Commons is open M-F from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Keys are available to faculty, staff and graduate students for after-hours use. Slide Collection

The TRC may be used by students enrolled in both our Latin Teaching Apprenticeship and our Summer Teacher Institute and others interested in teaching classical languages. Holdings include books and articles on teaching methodology, classroom-ready curriculum units, information on national standards, College Board publications on teaching AP Latin, and a range of items provided by the American Classical League's Teaching Materials and Resource Center, as well as Prentice Hall, Bolchazy-Carducci, and other publishers of Greek and Latin texts. |
