Reading List Examinations

The Graduate Faculty of the department administers the M.A. Reading List Examination based on the Reading List. Graduate students must take this examination during the spring semester of their first year. (The exam is generally administered during the third week of March.) The examination is evaluated and discussed by the entire graduate faculty. Written notification of the results (High Pass, Pass, Fail) are given to the examinee within seven days after the administration of the exam.

In order to pass, students must perform satisfactorily on all parts of the examination. If a student fails the exam, he/she may re-take it once more, at or near the beginning of the subsequent fall semester. Failing the re-examination will result in immediate dismissal from the M.A. program.
