Description of the ProgramThe UGA Studies Abroad program in Switzerland offers you the unique opportunity to study the archaeology, prehistory, and religion of Switzerland with knowledgeable UGA faculty. The program offers three complementary courses for a total of 9 credit hours. We invite you to join us for one, two or all three courses.
UGA in Switzerland is based in the lovely medieval walled city of Estavayer-le-Lac on Lake Neuchâtel in French-speaking Switzerland. Estavayer-le-Lac is an undiscovered treasure from the Middle Ages. Its ramparts are almost entirely intact and encompass winding cobblestone streets, a Gothic church, museum, castle and convent where Dominican sisters have resided since 1316 without interruption.
Site visits and field trips take you through some of the most beautiful scenery in Switzerland and include excursions to nearby France and Italy. Weekend travel can easily take students to Zermatt, Lucerne, Interlaken, Paris, Venice, and Germany. Also consult the Office of International Education website. The CostsThe program fees listed for each course cover your room and board Monday thru Friday lunch, your room and board on official program excursions, museum and site entrance fees, UGA tuition and fees.
Not included in the program fees are your airfare, (about $700 and Swiss Rail Pass (about $300/month) for unlimited travel on trains, buses and boats in Switzerland. To find out more about the Swiss Rail Pass, go to their web site. Students may apply to the Franklin
