Welcome to the web site for CLAS 1000, Greek Culture

This course will introduce you to ancient Greek culture through the examination of a variety of cultural material, with an emphasis on Greek literature. In this course you will read and analyze translations of important Greek authors and will put them in their cultural context.

This web site is designed to serve as a basic reference tool for students enrolled in CLAS 1000. It is not meant to substitute for class attendance, participation, and homework. You may find that this site will be a useful resource for you later when you take advanced courses in the Classics Department.

This course satifies Area C of the University of Georgia Core Curriculum and the Franklin College Literature requirement.
